Great Central Railway

is the UK's only double track, main line

heritage railway. It's the only place in the

world where full size steam engines can

be seen passing each other – just as it

was when steam ruled the rails.

Miscellaneous  

Ex- LMS Class 5, 45407, headed a series of Altrincham – Chester shuttles on the 4th May 2008 .

The first train of the day commenced at Crewe and accessed Altrincham via the now freight only Sandbach to Northwich line.

Above is 45407 about to take the loop line through the site of the former Middlewich Station

45407 heading the “Cheshire Gardens Express” northwards out of Altrincham on an ECS working to the Cheadle Heath area to take on coal and water
