Launch of

'Relax, Ramble & Roam'

on Wednesday 23rd January 2008

The launch was celebrated by a group of walkers following one of the walks in the leaflet. The group of seventeen set off from the centre of Accrington to follow the disused railway line to Baxenden and then via footpaths to the viewpoint at the top of Peel Park, high above Accrington.

It is hoped that, if the leaflet is successful, then a second version may be produced featuring a further six walks. Simon Clarke, Community Rail Development Officer, commented:

It was a pleasure to help with the work on this leaflet and to see so many people join us on the launch day was very satisfying. The leaflet is being well received and we hope that many people will enjoy the walks and that they will be encouraged to see the train as a good way to explore the countryside.
