|Preston Rail Passenger Car Park
Virgin Trains in partnership with Network Rail is to provide an additional 469 car parking spaces for rail passengers at Preston station. The new 939-space car park is expected to be completed in Spring 2009. Construction work is due to start by the end of May 2008 and passengers are advised that there will be a reduction in existing car parking spaces and these are expected to be filled by 07:30 each day.
VT and NR are working closely with Passenger Focus to minimise the inconvenience to customers during the work at Preston. Whilst the work takes place, customers are advised to use alternative car parks or local buses, including the Park & Ride service, and to allow extra time for their journey to ensure they catch their intended train.
VT and NR have committed £90 million over the next 18 months to increase the number of parking spaces at stations on the all 17 stations on the WCML which are managed by Virgin Trains.
