Rail Travel North of Clitheroe
For many years Ribble Valley Rail (RVR) has wanted to see trains operating the full length of the Ribble Valley Line with trains once again operating regularly to Hellifield.
To develop the project RVBC has set up a project team that consists of a variety of organisations including DfT, Lancashire and North Yorkshire County Councils, Northern, Network Rail and Community Rail Lancashire.
So what is the next step? This is where it starts to get technical as RVBC now has to submit what is known as a Strategic Outline Business Case (SOBC) to the Department for Transport. This will involve commissioning consultants to pull together the SOBC as well as Network Rail who will carry out a Capacity Analysis for the route which will contribute to the overall SOBC. An invitation to tender has been issued to a long list of potential consultants.
