'On Track' exhibition in Clitheroe
An All Aboard Family Fun Day took place at Clitheroe Castle Museum on Wednesday 15 February. This was part of Clitheroe Castle and Community Rail Lancashire’s celebration of Lancashire’s railways past and present. The day was packed with fun activities, including; Whistle the Dog (Northern's mascot) competitions, Pendle Forest Model Railway Society’s 'Rock n Rail', as well as the opportunity to try on various hats and uniforms from yester years.
You can visit the Steward’s gallery for the new exhibition 'On Track: A Glimpse into Lancashire’s Railways Past and Present' as well as see toys, artefacts, photographs and railway memorabilia. You can also get comfy and watch a film exploring the Ribble Valley Line - the free exhibition runs until the end of June.
Richard Watts, Chair of Community Rail Lancashire, commented: “This exhibition shows just how much Lancashire features in railway history and the amount of railway memorabilia on show is impressive. I am really pleased that some of the local station volunteers have got involved in this project and hope that the exhibition proves popular and encourages young and old to get involved.”
Martin Keating, Northern's Regional Community and Sustainability Manager added: “I would encourage people to visit this exciting exhibition to learn something new and become more aware of the role the railways played and continue to play in our communities and economy."
