Until the last few weekends (writing this in late July), Sunday services on the route have been intermittent at best. The reason was due to Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) by members of ASLEF : working on Sundays is voluntary and a shortage of volunteers led to many cancellations.

However please note that the current period of ASLEF Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) will end on Saturday 27 July at 23:59. A new Rest Day Working agreement will commence on Sunday 28 July. This will assist in delivering reduced cancellations and improved train service performance across the Northern Trains network.
