Although the bridge in question is between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale so isn't on the Ribble Valley line, many of our services run between Clitheroe and Rochdale.

 

Network Rail have been replacing a 42m long, 2,000 tonne bridge over the M62 at Castleton, between Rochdale and Manchester.

 

Throughout the closure of the railway line, engineers have worked around the clock to install a new bridge and tracks over the M62. They have also completed essential ground drainage works, laid new cables and troughing.

 

Position in late September - work has been completed and train services have resumed on schedule.
