You'll probably remember that the Dalesrail service in 2023 was cancelled. Along with many other bodies, we met with Northern Trains and had long discussions.

We've just received (mid-February) this information about the service in 2024.

'It is our (Northern Trains) intention to operate a Saturdays Only service between Rochdale and Ribblehead via Manchester Victoria, Bolton, and Clitheroe. It is planned that the first train will operate on Saturday 8 June 2024. The service will operate year-round.'

It will be branded the YORKSHIRE DALES EXPLORER. We fully expect guided walks will operate (as previously) led by Lancashire Rail Ramblers. For those interested, here is the expected timetable for the two return trips each Saturday. Thanks to all involved in making this happen.
