Castleton Bridge replacement
Although the bridge in question is between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale so isn't on the Ribble Valley line, many of our services run between Clitheroe and Rochdale. So please be aware of this engineering work even though it isn't taking place until September.
Network Rail is investing more than £20m in rebuilding a major railway bridge that takes trains over the M62 at Castleton, near Rochdale.
Due to major rail disruption and closures of the M62, customers are advised to plan ahead, as journey times will be significantly increased.
Customers should expect all services to be extremely busy, potentially leading to delays, and should consider alternative travel arrangements if possible. Some trains will be diverted or replaced by buses- please check before you travel.
If a service you have booked is no longer running, you can claim a full refund. More details can be found on the refunds page.
The fastest way to stay up to date is via Northern Trains' Whatsapp service. Simply send a Whatsapp message saying "Hello" to 07870 606060 and select 'Get Train Info' from the menu.
